  • Nate Hoffer

    Chief Executive Officer 717-394-7707 x1001 Since 2009, Nate has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Good Samaritan Services. Previously, Nate has worked with high-impact organizations including Bread for the World in Washington, DC and the Independent Jamaican Council for Human Rights in Kingston, Jamaica. In addition to his current work at Good Samaritan Services, Nate serves as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Conner M. Holland Foundation, an organization that provides financial assistance to families fighting pediatric cancer. Nate is also a current member and former President of the Denver-Ephrata Rotary Club. He and his wife, Rebekah, live in Ephrata and have three children. They are members of Petra Church in New Holland. Nate earned his B.S. in Business Administration from Eastern Mennonite University and his MBA from Eastern University. Nate also holds a Certificate in Executive Leadership from Arcadia University.

  • Cheryl Miles

    Director of Housing Support Services 610-380-1360 x4009 Cheryl is currently the Director of Housing Support Services at Good Samaritan Services, serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Lancaster and Chester Counties. She oversees program operations, supervises program staff, and recruits and trains volunteers within churches to be mentoring volunteers to families within the program. Cheryl is a social worker with over 30 years of experience working with some of society’s most vulnerable populations. She received her BSW from West Chester University and her MSW from the University of Pennsylvania. Cheryl is co-convener of the Chester County Faith Leaders Addressing Poverty and Black Women of Chester County in Action. She is also a member of the Chester County’s Decade to Doorway Coordinated Entry Taskforce and Coatesville Cross System Partnership. Cheryl has served on the H.U.B of Hope HIV/AIDS Ministry Advisory Board. She is also member of the Chester County Collaborative, the host Chester County Annual Single Mothers’ Conference. Cheryl is a member of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church. She resides in Kennett Square, with her husband, Anthony. They are the proud parents of two adult sons, Derrick and David.

  • Willean

    Willean Yoder

    Chief Financial Officer 717-394-7707 x1006 Willean has served as the Chief Financial Officer of Good Samaritan Services since 2017. From 1998 until merging with Good Sam, Willean worked as the Office Manager for Bridge of Hope Lancaster and Chester Counties. Prior to 1998, she spent 15 years teaching business classes in various educational settings. Her students ranged in age from 11 years old into their 80’s. Willean lives in Talmage and spends her spare time learning to play the guitar and helping young singers find their voice. She is a member of Carpenter Community Church serving in various capacities. Willean earned her B.A. in Business Administration from Grove City College, as well as a Master Certificate in Human Resources from Villanova University.

  • Hannah

    Hannah Miller

    Director of Shelter & Residential Programs 717-733-3395 x2001 In 2015, Hannah started working with Good Samaritan Services as an Intern and a House Manager. In May of 2016, Hannah earned her Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Biblical Studies and was hired for the role of the Resident Director of the Women’s Shelter in Ephrata. In 2020, Hannah was promoted to Director of Shelter and Residential Programs where she will be able to utilize her gifts in even bigger ways. Hannah has a great passion for the people we serve. Hannah and her husband Jonathan, live in Denver. They are members of Dove Westgate Church in Ephrata where they are a part of the Worship & Media Team and Small Group leaders.

  • Vernon Webb

    Chief Operating Officer 610-380-1360 x 4001 Vernon started with Good Samaritan Services in August of 2020 as the Program Coordinator for our Housing Support Services office in Coatesville, PA, and has since been promoted to Chief Operating Officer! Vernon will initiate the screening process for each potential participant. He will also be involved in the coordination of schedules and organizing office functions and events. Vernon comes to us with many years of experience in management, staffing, Microsoft, and organization. He also enjoyed 15 years as a youth sports Coach in Pittsburgh, PA! He is originally from Pittsburgh, PA, and is married with two sons and two grandchildren. The entire family is Pittsburgh fans, Steelers, Penguins, Pirates, and Pitt. His family also enjoys golf, traveling, and their two twin cats. You might find yourself wondering what animal Vernon would be if he were indeed an animal... Well, wonder no more! If transformed into an animal, Vernon would certainly be a lion. He is a fearless leader and protector! Vernon is excited to leave a legacy of always doing his best to make sure he does everything he can for anyone who calls or walks through Good Sam's doors.

Development & Administration

  • Ze'aira Boggess

    Operations Coordinator 610-380-1360 x 4004 Ze'aira started with Good Samaritan Services in August of 2020 as the Operations Coordinator. ⁠ Ze'aira will be our go-to lady for the day to day functions of human resources, facilities, and IT of Good Sam. She is also working diligently in identifying and implementing procedures and practices that ensure organizational effectiveness. While she completes her degree in Business Administration, Ze'aira's skills will greatly benefit the functionality of Good Sam! ⁠ Ze'aira was introduced to Good Sam through an internship with 'Trellis For Tomorrow,' which made her want to work at Good Sam! She was attracted to the overall culture of Good Sam and our dedication to the community. ⁠ The oldest of 5, Ze'aira comes from a large family and enjoys various DIY projects while also regularly practicing self-care. She is affiliated with Norristown Baptist church where she serves praise and worship as well as their health and wellness programs. As a woman of gentle strength and a peaceful spirit, Ze'aira finds she most closely identifies with a panda! ⁠ Ze'aira is excited to make her colleges feel as though there is nothing that she won't put her full effort into when it comes to helping them or the organization.

  • Shadoe Caprell

    Development and Communications Coordinator 717-733-3395 x 2006 Shadoe has degrees in both Marketing Management and Career & Technical Education. Non-profit work has been a large part of Shadoe’s life. She spent time working with Teamwork Africa, which provides clean water, medical care and education to children and families in Liberia. Shadoe developed branding, social media, events, and promotions for this organization. Throughout her life she has spent time volunteering at shelters, food pantries, and soup kitchens. Her heart beats for serving her community, and she is excited to continue that work at Good Sam. Shadoe's role is to share the impact of our work in creative and engaging ways across our social media platforms, printed materials, donor communication platforms, and more. She also manages all of our fundraising events throughout the year. She will be traveling to all of our locations across Lancaster & Chester Counties gathering and retelling the inspiring stories of lives we impact here at Good Sam. Shadoe loves spending time in her kitchen or outside reading books in her hammock.

  • Kathryn Maleney

    Grant Writer 610-933-9305 x3004 Kathryn Maleney is a prize-winning writer and editor, working for Good Samaritan Services since 2009. Prior to her service at GSS, she spent ten years working for Philadelphia Yearly Meeting’s Friends Weekend Workcamp, a program that helped people of different backgrounds and ethnicities come together in Philadelphia’s Mantua neighborhood to do hands-on home repair work and to puzzle through the causes and effects of racism and poverty in the USA. Kathryn’s studies at Marlboro College prepared her for the work of addressing issues of poverty and homelessness, having majored in Religion, Literature, and History, writing her thesis on the problem of ethical action in an age without absolutes. Further graduate studies in Counseling Psychology at Chestnut Hill College and spirituality at the Living School of Action & Contemplation have added to her understanding of the needs and challenges of those who are homeless. Besides grant writing, Kathryn writes poetry, paints, draws and is a mother to two young adults.

Chester County Housing Support Services

  • Melissa Horst

    Lead Family Resource Coordinator 610-380-1360 x4003 Since 2012, Melissa has served as a Family Resource Coordinator. Previously, Melissa worked at Tel Hai Retirement Community in Honey Brook, PA and at Prompt in Play in Wilmington, DE. In addition to her current work at Good Samaritan Services, Melissa serves as a volunteer, teaching the early reading class at the Honey Brook Library and serves as a member of the PTO at her children’s school. Melissa and her husband, Trent, live in Honey Brook with their two children. They are members at Grace Outlet Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Reading. Together, they enjoy spending time outdoors, traveling and serving the community with their church family. Melissa earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at Andrew’s University in Berrien Springs, MI. She holds a certificate in Strength-Based Family Social Work and Strength-Based Leadership from Temple University.

    Family Resource Coordinator 610-380-1360 x4005 Brenda Moore has worked in the field of human and social services for many years. She has held a variety of positions serving the poor and oppressed members of our society. As a Family Resource Coordinator at Good Samaritan Services, she continues to live out her passion.

Lancaster County Emergency Shelters and Residential Housing

  • Christy Hambrick

    Lead Residential Services Coordinator 717-733-3395 x2005 Christy Hambrick was hired in January 2020 and is a Residential Services Coordinator for Good Samaritan Services' Shelter in Ephrata. She is originally from Ringgold, Georgia, and has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN. Christy has a background working in Child Welfare as well as the Educational system. Through the years she has worked part-time while focusing on raising her children. Her most recent employment was in Early Childhood with the Ephrata Area School District. Christy has been married to her husband Rob for almost 20 years and they have 2 teenage children. Their family attends Grace Point Church of the Nazarene where they are active members.

  • Emily Neff

    Residential Services Coordinator 717-733-3395 x2003 Emily Neff was hired in May 2019 and is now Lead Residential Services Coordinator for the Good Samaritan Services' Shelter in Ephrata. Emily is originally from Lebanon, PA. She graduated from Shippensburg University in 1999, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Emily has mainly worked within the child welfare system. She was previously employed by Lancaster CYS as a Caseworker, and she later worked for COBYS Family Services as a Child Profile Specialist. Emily was home with her children for many years and worked part-time from home on a limited basis. She and her husband, Keith, have been married 20 years and reside in Ephrata with their five children. Emily and Keith have been members at Dove Westgate Church in Ephrata for nearly 20 years and served as Elders there.

  • This is Juliana

    Juliana Dudley

    Program Coordinator 717-733-3395 x2002 Juliana has spent much of her career caring for young children and developing sustainable strategies for young adults to excel at life. From serving in a Honduran school right out of high school, to teaching in rural elementary schools throughout Taiwan, to coordinating events for ministries across various states in the USA, Juliana has gained a wide range of experience. Juliana started and ran a ministry for mothers for four years at DOVE Westgate Church, and she served as a volunteer at Good Samaritan Services for a few years before she came on staff. She loves being a mom to her two children, and also enjoys serving the young adults and families in her church alongside her husband.

  • Amber Rogers

    House Manager Amber Rogers was hired as a House Manager for Good Samaritan Services' shelter of Ephrata in July 2019. She has one son, Sahmad, who is eleven years of age. Amber also works for another agency as a part-time Caregiver. Amber entered our Women's Shelter in December 2018. Amber has made great, positive strides since coming to the shelter, and she has proven herself to be a leader and an encourager to the other ladies. Amber is “proud to say I am entering my second semester as a college student and Good Sam’s newest House Manager.” After receiving a degree in Human Services, Amber would like to be a Caseworker and work with either the child welfare system or with the homeless population.

Lancaster County Housing Support Services

  • Janette Clay

    Program Coordinator 717-394-7707 x1007 Since 2019, Janette has served as the Program Coordinator for the Housing Support Services program at Good Samaritan Services. Before that, she spent time working as an Admissions Counselor for White Deer Run, and a Case Manager for Addiction Recovery Systems Lancaster. Janette spent time studying at Virginia Commonwealth University and Franklin & Marshall College and is bilingual and fluent in Spanish. She holds several certifications including Biopsychosocial Model of Addictions, Bridges out of Poverty, and Customer Relations. Janette’s passion for individuals in our community is to encourage, respect, show kindness, and be a voice for them. She currently volunteers at the Boys & Girls Club.

  • Kareema Burgess

    Family Resource Coordinator 717-394-7707 x1009 Kareema joined Good Samaritan Services on January 27, 2020, as a part-time Family Resource Coordinator. Kareema has her BS in Criminal Justice and brings with a wealth of experience in child welfare, drug and alcohol, mental health, criminal justice and homelessness from her previous professional positions in Lancaster County. She is also very involved as a leader in her community through community organizing and advocacy. Kareema and her family reside in Leola, Pa.

  • Kathleen

    Kathy Scott

    Family Specialist & Education Coordinator 717-394-7707 x1003 Kathleen Scott, B.S. Ed. currently serves as the Education Coordinator and Family Specialist for Good Samaritan Services. Prior to that, she served as the Program Supervisor for the Frontline Health Care Center for Excellence at Lancaster General Health. She worked as a Family Life Educator at COBYS Family Services from 2000 to 2008. Kathy has been a parenting educator since 1994 when she took extensive parenting training at what was then Parents Inc. in Fort Washington, PA, where she then taught parenting workshops and was a home visitor for families referred by Bucks County Children and Youth. Parents Inc. evolved into the Lakeside Global Institute where Kathy is currently participating in ongoing trauma awareness training. Kathy is trained and certified in the following programs; Foundations of Healthy Parenting and Leadership Training, Parents as Teachers, the Fatherhood Initiative, Active Parenting, Nurturing Parenting, as well as Lakeside Global Institute certified in Enhancing Trauma Awareness and Deepening Trauma Awareness. She has served on the Board of the Community Life Network in Columbia and the start-up committee for the Elanco Social Services Network. Kathy has lived in Lancaster County since 2001. She has two children and two grandchildren.

Chester County Emergency Shelters and Residential Housing

  • Rich

    Rich Baxter

    Lead Residential Services Coordinator 610-933-9305 x3003 Rich began working with Good Samaritan Services in July of 2015 as the Resident Advocate, connecting residents with the services offered throughout the county, as well as assisting in case management of the residents. In October of 2019 Rich was promoted to Lead Residential Services Coordinator overseeing all of our shelters in Phoenixville. Rich brings years of Good Sam experience, management expertise, and trust among our residents. Prior to Good Sam, he worked as the Director of the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program for Life Transforming Ministry in Coatesville. During that same time, he was a volunteer, teaching prison ministry at the Chester County Prison. Rich retired from Worthington Industries, a steel processing facility, in 2010. He also graduated with a 32-hour certification in theology from the Vineyard Institute in 2015. Rich owned and operated his own restaurant for 16 years prior to joining Worthington Industries. He worked for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp. in Yorkville, Ohio for 10 years after attending Ohio State University from 1965 to 1969. Rich attends Vineyard Church in Chester Springs, PA, and leads the outreach ministry. He has 8 adult children and 13 grandchildren and resides with his wife, Elizabeth, in Phoenixville as empty nesters.

  • Tyler Logan

    Residential Services Coordinator 610-933-9305 x 3002 In March of 2020, Tyler joined the Good Samaritan Services Team as the Residential Services Coordinator for the Good Sam Shelter in Phoenixville, PA. Prior to working at Good Sam, Tyler spent a little over 3 years working in the addictions and incarceration field. He worked at Liberty Ministries (after-care Prison Ministry) as a Residential Advocate and at George W. Hill Correctional Facility as a Substance Abuse Counselor. Tyler graduated from the University of Valley Forge in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and graduated from Liberty University in 2018 with a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Counseling with a focus in addictions and recovery. Tyler is a Board-Certified Biblical Counselor through the Board of Christian Professional and Pastoral Counselors. He is also a currently Licensed Minister through the General Council of the Assemblies of God. Tyler’s number one supporter is his wife, Jerilyn. Jerilyn is an ESL teacher at Central Middle School in the Reading School District. Tyler and his wife, Jerilyn, live in Spring City, PA where they are very active in their community and church. They attend Grace Assembly of God as their home church serving in a multitude of areas. Tyler is a part of the worship team and Jerilyn works with the children. They both volunteer with youth and lead a young adult small group at their home once a week.

  • Moreh

    Moreh White

    House Manager Moreh became a resident of Good Samaritan Services' Shelter in December of 2014, and became House Manager of The Arthur Perry Emergency Shelter in May of 2015. Aside from his job as House Manager, he is also employed as a Customer Service Representative with a durable medical equipment company in the Phoenixville- Collegeville area for the past two and a half years.

  • Rodney

    Rodney Miller

    House Manager Rodney Miller grew up in Brooklyn and had a rough time growing up on the streets of the city. He found himself too often in trouble with the law, and with two kids and a record he was “just surviving”. “I knew I had to get a new life. Thankfully I was introduced to Good Samaritan. Since I arrived here I have become almost a new man.” Soon after his arrival at Good Sam, the Code Blue Winter Shelter opened in Phoenixville, and Rodney got a position working there. From there, he got a job working with Nourish Mobile Market, rising to become truck captain. And along with all of this, for the last two years, he has worked as a Good Sam House Manager. This past year Rodney did the Good Samaritan Services' Job Training Program. As a result, he got a position at Allan Meyers, working as a parts driver. Rodney has grandsons and two sons in New York, and he aspires to have a place where they can come and be at home. His job and his work at Good Sam are giving him the opportunity to save for that.

  • Lee Davis

    House Manager Lee Davis joined Good Samaritan Services as a House Manager for both the 135 and 137 High Street locations in the Phoenixville area in 2020. Lee attended both The Pennsylvania State University and The University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business majoring in Business Management. Lee spends a lot of his time helping our Phoenixville residents with their financial needs, including credit repair and employment matters. Lee is from the Philadelphia area and is the father of three amazing kids.

    House Manager Good Samaritan Services gave me the opportunity to start over, and I am blessed to pass that same opportunity down to the other men in our program.

  • Rick

    Rick Harris

    Maintenance Manager Rick has been with Good Samaritan Services since April 2018 as Facilities Manager. He has been working with homelessness and tenant-based rental assistance programs since 2000. Rick's other previous work experience is in Code Enforcement with the Borough of Phoenixville, Rental Inspector with the Montgomery County Housing Authority, and various construction jobs.
